Kodjo died from a single knife wound to the heart on Wednesday 14th March 2007.
Kodjo's girlfriend Cookie said they were walking along Hammersmith Grove, Hammersmith, when a
boy approached and picked a fight.
She told the London Evening Standard: "Kodjo is not afraid of anyone so he said, 'Come on,
let's do this.' They went round a corner to be somewhere a bit quieter but we were
ambushed.
"Suddenly all these boys came from round the corner. They all had weapons - knives, hammers and
baseball bats. It was set up."
Witnesses described seeing a gang of boys and several girls chanting "kill him, kill him"
and throwing sticks at Kodjo, before he was attacked.
They are believed to have been trying to take his Staffordshire bull terrier - a much prized gang
accessory - which he would not hand over.
Cookie said she had cradled the boy as he lay dying, saying to him: "Please, please don't
die because I need you."
Kodjo's friend Natalie Hunter told Sky News: "I heard he got stabbed up in his heart,
tortured and he begged for his life and people (his attackers) would not stop and no one was there
to help him.
"I just don't understand why kids are killing kids."
Kodjo, who was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, had been a student at St Charles Catholic
Sixth Form College in west London.
Headteacher Paul O'Shea described him as "friendly, gentle and peaceful" with an
"excellent record".

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss and i offer you my sincere condolences from myself and my family and i hope that your faith is strong enough to get you through this very sad and troubled time.
Your son was a credit to himself and his family and in todays society that is a very refreshing thing to say of teenagers in todays society.
I am sure that your son now lays in the arms of the lord and that he will be waiting for you at the gates of Heaven on the day that you are reunited with him.

Another waste..
I was at Hammersmith Grive not long after it happened and saw all the police. When I found out a 16 yr old had died my heart sank again. What a senseless crime and what are thse young boys doin going round killing others?? They call themselves Murder dem puss#es when in fact they are the puss#es cos any real man would fight with his fists and not use weapons on an unarmed man! These boys have no respect, oneday it will happen to them but why does it always seem to happen to the good boys?? Its so unfair...I send my condolences to the family and hope they find some peace and that Kodjo may RIP XXX
TIME TO FIGHT BACK
Cookie & Kodjo's family, my heart felt thoughts are with you all and I've said a little prayer and asked my mum and dad to look after Kodjo for you. He's in a safe place now and he will rest in peace and you will feel him.
Cookie - A girl your age should never ever have to go through what you are, this is no consolation I know but time does heal the pain and in time you will think about your boy and you will smile again.
We need to reclaim our streets from these bloody thugs, does anybody really feel safe walking our roads in daylight let alone the evening. Bring tougher sentences back from these crimes, if something isn't done soon I can see vigilante type people going out there and getting sorting these mindless little b******s out and I for one will cheer them on.

I'm a close friend of billy cox and his family, and have watched and felt the never ending pain everyone has suffered over the last month. And now yet another family are having to go though this pain. My heart and soul goes out to anyone feeling his lose. One thing i have learnt over the few weeks is not to believe what the papers say. What i can work out for myself is that he was well loved and somebodys beatiful boy. I am saddend to know that your road ahead is dark and difficult and hope you find a strenth from within to get though each day. Nothing i say can ease anyones pain, but felt the need to let you know that Kodjo passing is such a way has touch me and saddend me deeply.

I'm so glad this site has been created. I want to say to Kodjo's family how sorry I am about this awful tragedy. Another beautiful, precious son/brother lost. What is happening in this country? How many more families have to suffer because of this gang culture. Somebody needs to educate these young people before things spiral out of control. Well done to Natalie Hunter for her comments. It was lovely to hear some common sense coming from a young person. Young people might listen.
